Why They’re So Popular
First off, Li – Po batteries have a really high energy density. What does that mean? Well, it means they can store a whole lot of energy in a relatively small and lightweight package. And for drones, weight is a big deal. The lighter the battery, the less energy the drone has to use just to keep itself in the air, which means longer flight times.
Another great thing about Li – Po batteries is their flexibility. They can be made in different shapes and sizes, which is super useful for drone manufacturers. They can design the battery to fit perfectly inside the drone’s frame, making the whole thing more compact and efficient.
The Downsides

The main problem with NiMH batteries is their low energy density. They can’t store as much energy as Li – Po or Li – Ion batteries, which means shorter flight times for your drone.
